Should Boys Play with Dolls? Black Friday Find and Grab

One parent recounts how stumbling upon a pair of Zibits selling for dirt cheap at a favorite discount store led to an afternoon of pretend play when the kids basically turned the robots into remote-controlled dolls. They played popular children’s games like Hide-and-Seek and Tag, but also dug into their imagination to invent games such as having a Zibit run through a maze that they created with wooden blocks (and even using a stopwatch to up the challenge). Even New York-based psychotherapist Christa Murphy saw something special about these toys after introducing them into her therapy sessions to help children project their feelings because robots are usually not gender-specific nor gender-preferential. In other words, you won’t hear objections like “I don’t want it because it’s a girl” during make-believe play and girls are just as likely to pick it up as boys. Since robots are often created in the shape of humans, the Zibits can also be useful even in play therapy. And although they have their own play scenario sets, these little robots can do lots of amazing things and there are little to no boundaries for creative play with your child’s imagination unleashed.
