The stereotyping of toys has caused a multitude of traumatic experiences for many young children. When a boy is caught playing with dolls by other boys, he would feel embarrassed and out of place. This prompts the boy to either lie or deny or run away. But the fact is, there is no reason why boys shouldn’t be allowed to play girls’ toys and vice versa. The idea of gender role in our society is fluid. Gender is constructed by society, it is neither absolute nor unchangeable. In this modern and enlightened age, the boundaries between genders have become blurred, and children can now be raised as children not as boys or girls. The episode about Baby Bear’s baby doll which was aired on Sesame Street is proof of the social stigma that limits a child’s play zone and promote socially and emotionally inferior children. The Center for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMW) has raised an issue against that specific episode. Others say gender roles in society might still be in effect for a long while because humanity has hardwired it into little boys’ and girls’ minds. The biblical and traditional views of gender is now being challenged by many modern and radical minds.
